By the way – I used to have 2 French cars: a '92 Renault Clio 1.4 (my 1st car) and a '94 Citroen ZX Aura 1.8 Automatic. They were both very neglected by their previous owners but I liked them a lot, especially the ZX

My first car, a Renault 19, have the same engine as your Clio, an 1.4 Energy. Some say it's an undestructible engine

Yes – it was a very good engine... and it made a small, light car – the Clio I – surprisingly fast Actually, the engine was the only thing that was functioning properly in the end

As for the ZX – the engine was its worst part. Horrible leaks and frightening fuel consumption... But the rest was very good. I should have looked for a 1.9D (XUD) – THAT was indestructible!

Not to make any more offtopic, I'll add that much as I liked both of my Frenchies (especially the Citroen – it was wonderfully comfortable and had tons of character), I think I'll stick to Japanese cars. The Mazda is really reliable!

I've been robbed last Friday (in my appartment... ), and yesterday I went to the Police and to the insurance company.
I think this robbery delayed my project to buy new shocks absorbers..

I hope too but... Last friday the Police found only two "fingerprints" which looks like they made by a glove.. And when we went to the police station yesterday to complain about the robbery, the officer said they not sure to find them, or with a good luck if they find some objects in a search in home of a supposed thief.
And we wait with my girlfriend for the insurance, they appointed an expert to know how much we could have. Probably not much money... Even if they robbed a lot of things...

Hello there

I received a new hose last week and I put it on the car yesterday.
The old one :




Since last month... I've heard a little noise from below the exhaust manifold. I was thinking it was just a little problem from a joint between two pipes under the car.
And last friday, the sound was became a little bit louder, but I was tired and I needed a sleep
The saturday I needed to go at my parents home, they live at 100km from me, for my little sister birthday. And when I started the car.... BROOOOOAAAP BROOP BROOP , a very loud sound of exhaust, like a rally car !
I tried to go around in the neighborhood, thinking the sound decrease if I drive. I stop at a carwash, and I take a look under the car.. Oh s**t.. The pipe under the exhaust manifold (the bend) is broken in two parts
There is an old welding... I think this part was broken before, and it has been welded.
It's pleasant to heard the sound of the exhaust, but it's too louder for me (and for the French Police I think) and tiring when you drive for 100kms.
I will change this part soon, after my holidays in London.

Some news :
This week, I changed a piece from the exhaust (the bend under the exhaust manifold) because it was broken.
There is a weld on it, probably because it was broken by the old owner :roll:

Yesterday I changed the cabin filter.

I think nobody has changed those filters for years...

And this weekend, this is the South Super Meet, near Perpignan (France). I'll go with my C, and I hope to have some good pictures of my car
