In recent times I have received many private requests in forums concerning data updating of Mazda Connect and other modules on cars imported from North America (USA) or Canada or Mexico into Europe like Poland, and even Russia.
I have also been in-touch with a few Mazda Dealers I know in Europe and UK who confirmed what can and can not be done to assist Mazda Owners of these second hand or near new Mazda cars imported from USA or Japan as JDM.
These new Mazda’s for Mazda diagnostics use MDARS and no longer use the old Ford/Mazda IDS which with Mazda IDS will soon end with the next Gen MX-5, all Mazda’s will be MDARS compliant. Mazda IDS is not used on Gen 7+ Mazda's.
Then you get into these cars that may have had an accident or needs crash repairing or something electronic fails like BCM Module, or Mazda Radar Cruise Control these can only be set up or initialized by a Mazda Dealer Diagnostics named MDARS.
Not going too deep but MDARS in Europe is used via MME (Mazda Motors Europe) Portal browser and syncing with Mazda Japan portal to the end user the Mazda Dealer which will never recognize your cars VIN number which is for a North American car, so you cannot fix this car, it is basically impossible.
